Erika Bell (Ms. Red)
Nelson Teen Coordinator
"BGCML allows all club members an influence on a national level."
Erika has been with BGCML since last summer and has taken our Teen Zone to new levels. She is passionate about working with BGCML because it gives the youth of Muskegon an opportunity to receive programs being offered around America. "We are no longer considered 'small Muskegon,' BGCML allows all club members an influence on a national level!"
In her free time Ms. Red likes to travel, spend time with her family, volunteering and she enjoys any art activity.
Erika was born and raised in Muskegon and attended Muskegon Public Schools. Erika told us "it has been awesome and rewarding working with the youth from 'my own' community, being a positive role-model and mentor, allowing the youth to see that Ms. Red truly cares."
Her favorite game to play with the entire Nelson Club is Ultimate Rock, Paper, and Scissors - advancing from bronze, to silver, to championship gold for the win! And her favorite activity with the youth has been Summer Court Basketball and Night Court Basketball during the school year, providing a fun and safe place for all age youth.
Reese Park Coordinator
"I love that I am able to be a part of an organization that is making a difference and huge impact on our community by serving hundreds of youth daily."
Katie, who grew up in the Whitehall/Muskegon area, is back for her second summer with Reese park. She always had good influences in her youth when she needed them and that is why she enjoys working in her community to provide youth in similar situations with those good influences.
She is passionate about work with Boys & Girls Club because she loves putting smiles on the kids' faces and establishing growing and positive relationships with them. "I love that I am able to be a part of an organization that is making a difference and huge impact on our community by serving hundreds of youth daily."
In her free time Katie spends time with her family and friends, enjoying all the new exciting things happening in the rebuilding of Downtown Muskegon. Especially browsing the farmer's market, trying new local foods and concerts in the park.
Katie's favorite thing to do with the kids are crafts, which allow them to use their imagination. She loves seeing their finished products and how proud of them they are!
Seyferth Park Coordinator
"Knowing that what I do can make a difference that could last a lifetime and truly be transformational in these kids lives, is a very humbling feeling."
Josh has been with our organization since summer 2016, working at Seyferth during the summer months and our Muskegon Heights Club Site during the school year.
He is passionate about working with youth and feels it is his calling! Josh will be going into his final year at Grand Valley State University this Fall, where he is pursuing a degree in Public and Non-Profit Administration.
Smith-Ryerson Park Coordinator
"Working at the Club doesn't even feel like work most of the time because I enjoy working with kids and our team is more like family then co-workers. Qualities like that are hard to come by."
Glendia is passionate about working with Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore because it allows her to do the two things that she loves: working with children and giving back to her community. She is a Muskegon Big Red graduate, born and raised in Muskegon. She feels the entire city is her community and that is why working with the organization is so special to her.
In her free time Glendia enjoys being outdoors, playing sports, and enjoying time with family and friends.
Glendia shared "Boys & Girls Club has given me so many different opportunities to grow and gain even more experience, so that I am able to do and be my best at all times. Working at the Club doesn't even feel like work most of the time because I enjoy working with kids and our team is more like family then co-workers. Qualities like that are hard to come by."
Glendia's all time favorite game to play with the kids is "Link Up." If you aren't sure what that is, be sure to stop by Smith-Ryerson to check it out!
Muskegon Heights Club Director
"My favorite thing about working at BGCML is having lifelong impacts on the development of kids that I make contact with, and creating lifelong relationships with individuals."
TJ has been with the Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore since the beginning. He went from being our Nelson Club Site Support Director to transitioning into the Club Director position to launch our Muskegon Heights Club Site in October 2016.
TJ has invested countless hours these last 2 years to create the greatest Club Experience in the nation for our youth right here in Muskegon. As a Muskegon Native, his loyalty and passion for our community's youth is unmatched!
Summer Parks Director
"I love helping the community and helping others gives me a great feeling at the end of the day."
Megan is passionate about working with the Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore because she loves helping out in the community. Megan has been working with BGCML since the beginning of summer, and has been rocking it out as our Summer Parks Director.
In her free time, Megan enjoys working out (she's big time - she does Crossfit), going boating with her family, relaxing on the beach, hanging out with her friends, and going to the dog park with her pug Nacho, yes - you read that right, her dog's name is Nacho.
Before coming on to our staff, Megan volunteered for many months at the Club through Rotaract of Baker College of Muskegon. One of Megan's favorite activities to do with the kids was working with our STEM programs, being able to run science experiments all while building lasting relationships with our Club members. Ever since Megan started being involved with Rotaract, she has had the desire to be a part of something greater. BGCML gives her that opportunity because the Club serves so many youth and is making Muskegon a better place overall. Being part of this organization is very special to her.
