Greetings from Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore’s Development Team! My name is Deborah Sweet, the Resource Development Director for BGCML.

The Need

Due to COVID-19, BGCML was unable to host our Gala this year. In an effort to raise funds in place of the Gala we are launching our first ever Muskegon Passport Month, but we need your help, and I think you will be all about it!

BGCML is a local non-profit organization that serves youth ages 6-18 during the out of school time (which is A LOT of time, especially during COVID-19). Each year our Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff put on the Great Futures Gala that raises a significant amount of funds for our annual campaign to help keep our doors open for local youth.

What is Muskegon Passport Month?

Muskegon Passport Month is a month-long initiative to raise funds and awareness for Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore in collaboration with local small businesses, while also encouraging community members to shop & dine locally!

How does it work?

BGCML is looking for 50 local small businesses to take part in the Passport Month. Each of these businesses will commit to having a specialty item running from October 1st-October 31st. When that item is ordered/purchased the company will give $1-$5 back to the Club. BGCML will be providing Passport Booklets for community members which can be found at all of the participating businesses to encourage participation. These booklets will then be stamped by the participating businesses when the specialty item is ordered/purchased.

Marketing Passport Month

BGCML will market the month-long event as much as possible. We are committed to releasing a press release to local news agencies prior to the event, and will push the event on social media frequently. In addition, BGCML will provide a window cling that will be placed at each of the small businesses for recognition and provide awareness for the initiative. Finally, your business will be listed in the Passport, on our website and tagged on Facebook. We hope that you will also promote the event to your network via email and social media.

TWO WAYS TO GIVE TO THE CAUSE

(Choose one or both from below, or support us through visiting the businesses that sign up and participate during the BGCML Muskegon County Passport Month for Change!)

What do we need from you?
If your business would like to be one of the 50 businesses taking part in the Passport Month we need you to complete the click SIGN UP MY BUSINESS above and fill out the Google Form by Friday, September 11th at 5pm. At the end of the Passport Month you simply write a check to Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore with the sum of donations made.

$500 Sponsorship Opportunity
BGCML is also looking for sponsors to help cover the cost of marketing and print for this event and support annual funding for BGCML. Specifically, BGCML is looking for businesses and individuals to be $500 Passport Month Sponsors. These sponsors will also be listed in the Passports community members will be using, promoted online, listed in the press release, and will be printed on at least one of the vinyl banners throughout the community.
